Jubals Merry Madge. Foaled in 2012 (she's 7.) Gorgeous IHWHA
chestnut sabino mare for sale. She is well trained - leg yields,
side passes, backs willingly and stands tied. She is easy to catch
and handle. She has been trail ridden by adults and children. Bred by Slush Creek Walkers in
Montana. She is by Slush Creek's Jubal S, a great minded, big boned
gentle giant of a horse. Madge is directly by the heritage sire,
Slush Creek's Jubal S., a gentle giant of a stallion who was the
last horse produced by Calvin Miller's Ranch. He had an
exceptionally quiet and gentle nature, a nice natural running walk
and a gorgeous head. He stood 16.1 hands with the thicker, heavier,
using/pleasure horse body style. He has been given the nickname
,"The Gentle Giant", by those that have met him in person. Through
Jubal, Madge goes to to the 14 time World Champion, Hill's
Perfection. (Hill's Perfection's
registered name was Reyclif Mid-Merry #561395 and that was not changed;
he was only campaigned as Hills Perfection). Sun's
Merry Man, the only offspring by Hill's Perfection to reproduce,
was owned by and stood at the Double Diamond Ranch for many years.
Her dam is a direct
Red Bud's Rambling Slim
daughter out of a Bud's
Sterling Bullet daughter.She
was bred and raised at
Slush Creek Walkers
in Montana before being purchased by Maggie Meyer in New York.
Maggie took wonderful care of Madge, but has decided to offer her
for sale to the right home. She is asking $4,500. Please call or
e-mail
Stephanie at 540-825-1300 to see her while she
is in training at Westwood Farms in Virginia.
Is your horse child safe? I see that question EVERYWHERE. It's a
question asked by someone on almost every sale ad - even the ones
for unbroken broodmares (not kidding.) The reality is, I know
children (like the one in this video) who ride better than some
adults...but people ask the question hoping to find a horse that
will safely and consistently do what they want. Horses are not
machines. Riding is a relationship. It's learning to communicate
with each other. It's about mutual
respect, confidence and trust. Honestly, most people need just a
decently trained horse and a few years of lessons together, not the
most fined tuned horse in the world. When Merry Madge arrived, she
hadn't been ridden in quite a while. She was very tense and nervous
by herself. So Jarred started riding her alone. He taught her to
trust him rather than searching for security in other horses. As she
began to trust, the tenseness melted away. We say "wet saddle
blankets" are the cure to everything. They really are, but it's
important that those wet saddle blankets are provided by someone who
knows how to be calm, reassuring and build the horse's confidence.
Lately, Julie has taken Madge offsite on trail rides to continue
building that confidence and she's doing beautifully. In fact, her
daughter, Brei, has taken to riding her lately and the mare just
adores her. The video above is pretty gimmicky (we were just letting
Brei play around), but it's an incredible transformation from the
tense mare she was to now. I only wish I had video from before. It's
not a magic trick or a miracle, it's just patience and persistence
in allowing her to develop into the horse she was meant to be.
